Brown Rudnick Announces 2011 Recipients of M. Robert Dushman Pro Bono and Community Service Awards
Annual awards created in memory of law firm partner and public interest advocate

Boston, MA, March 4, 2011 – Brown Rudnick, a premier international law firm, today announced the recipients of the fourth annual Brown Rudnick Center for the Public Interest M. Robert Dushman Pro Bono and Community Service Awards. These two awards honor both a successful Brown Rudnick attorney and a non-attorney whose professional or work life has demonstrated the qualities and commitment to the public interest that distinguished the Firm’s late partner, M. Robert Dushman.

The Pro Bono Award was presented to Cheryl B. Pinarchick, a partner in Brown Rudnick’s Litigation Department. During her career with Brown Rudnick, Cheryl has represented at least twenty-two pro bono clients, including individual homeless clients as well as significant nonprofit organizations such as Rosie’s Place and Facing History and Ourselves. Cheryl has been a Director of the Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation since 2004, Chair of its Grants Committee and was elected to serve as Foundation President for the past two years.

The Community Service Award was presented to Diana Nelson, the Firm’s Hartford Office Manager. This award recognizes a non-attorney at Brown Rudnick who has demonstrated a long-standing, exceptional contribution to community service through his/her employment at the Firm, in recognition of the spirit and philosophy of respect and egalitarianism Mr. Dushman had for everyone in the Brown Rudnick workplace. Diana actively coordinates and participates in the Hartford office’s community giving and many of that office’s community events. For example, each year, when the Hartford Office purchases clothing, gifts, books and art supplies for students at the Breakthrough Magnet School, Diana manages the donation drive and personally delivers the gifts. Further, Diana, along with two Hartford partners, initiated the American Heart Association Go Red event in the Hartford office three years ago.
