Brown Rudnick Donates to Red Cross to Support Communities Affected by Hurricane Sandy

Boston, MA, November 12, 2012 – Brown Rudnick LLP, an AmLaw 200 firm with offices in the US and Europe, has made a $25,000 contribution to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in support of emergency disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The donation was made through the Firm's Center for the Public Interest, the umbrella entity that encompasses the Firm's pro bono, charitable giving and community involvement efforts.

Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, as well as the second-costliest Atlantic hurricane in history, only surpassed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Early calculations estimate that Sandy caused damage of at least $20 billion. In the United States, Hurricane Sandy affected at least 24 states, with particularly severe damage in New Jersey and New York. Its storm surge hit New York City on October 29th, flooding streets, tunnels and subway lines and cutting power in and around the city.
