Boston, MA, April 22, 2015 – The Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp., a nonprofit, tax-exempt entity established by attorneys from the law firm of Brown Rudnick LLP, awarded a Community Grant to the Boston Educational Development Foundation in Boston, MA, to support the purchase of computer tablets for use at the Higginson-Lewis K-8 School.
Felicia Cantu, City Year Corps Member at Higginson-Lewis K-8 School, said, “The school aims to incorporate technology into educational programming as much as possible because students are growing up in a tech-focused world. Thanks to the Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation, students will be able to use tablets for research, school newsletter production and blogging, among other things.”
Al Wallis, Executive Director of the Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp, said, “Technology has become such a fundamental tool in learning for all ages. We are pleased to help the Boston Educational Development Foundation and Higginson-Lewis K-8 School purchase tablets for students to use in the classroom.”
Created to support front-line educators who often do not have a voice in funding decisions, the Community Grants subsidize small, concrete projects, which will improve inner-city education within Boston, Hartford, London, Orange County, Providence, New York, or Washington DC within the coming year. The Foundation will generally consider grant applications monthly and award grants in an amount totaling not more than $2000 in any one month. The grant applications and an explanation of the program can be found here.
